how it started

The inspiration for Laurie’s Love is the result of a beautiful friendship and deep connection with my dear friend and business colleague Laurie Brewer. She and I embarked on a challenging journey together while battling different types and forms of cancer. I was diagnosed with Triple Negative breast cancer and Laurie had been diagnosed with a rare blood cancer called T-cell Prolymphocytic Leukemia four years prior.

During the course of our treatments we quickly discovered the profound importance of networking with patients battling like cancers with whom you could not only discuss specific medical treatments but also provide much needed emotional support. We realized how invaluable it was to have access to those who truly understand what your cancer diagnosis entails.

During our lengthy and frequent conversations we shared a common goal of finding others with similar cancers across the globe who were fighting this insidious disease.

About Our Community

Laurie’s Love is a forum to speak privately and candidly with someone who understands the specific path that you are on, the precise treatments you are enduring and/or have endured, and the aftereffects of those treatments. This app is designed to be a common place to lift each other up during the difficult days and to provide inspiration on the momentous days that should be celebrated. It is a community to share personal stories to help empower one another as you work towards a victory over your cancer while keeping the faith that a cure is on the horizon.

Although Laurie Brewer’s journey ended before Laurie’s Love was officially established, the goal that we both shared is what inspired me to create Laurie’s Love. Our hope is that cancer journey warriors and their families, friends, and caregivers will have a place to find comfort and connection with others who are fighting, or who have fought, their particular battle. Simply put, the members of Laurie’s Love choose to be there for you no matter what the stage of your diagnosis or how you decide to address your cancer. We offer you our prayers and support during your journey.
